About us

 

Anyinginyi Health Aboriginal Corporation (AHAC) is a multi-disciplinary organisation which provides primary health care services to the Aboriginal people of Tennant Creek and the surrounding Barkly region, dedicated to ‘Closing the Gap’ in Aboriginal health within remote Australia.

Anyinginyi consists of five different sections (Health Services, Business Services, Public Health Unit, Sports and Recreation, and Piliyintinji-Ki Stronger Families) which allow them to have a holistic approach to health ensuring that clients' physical and emotional health and wellbeing is given the utmost priority.

 

Anyinginyi's mission is to be a provider of high quality holistic primary health care services featuring prevention and treatment in the Barkly region in a culturally responsive way.

 

What we offer you:

·         Salary packaging up to $15,899.94 pa.

·         6 weeks annual leave and personal/carer’s leave up to 10 days per year

·         Up to $1500 study allowance after 1 year of service

·         Study leave can be negotiated

·         Remote retention allowance of $1500 after 1 year of service and $3000 after 2               years’ service

·         Annual remote travel allowance of $1500 for personal travel after 1 year of                      service

·         Annual local Bi- Lingual allowance of up to $1500

As a small regional centre, Tennant Creek does not have the facilities one would find in larger country towns like Katherine or Alice Springs however it does provide for all the basics that most people require. There is a supermarket similar to a large IGA store, Post Office, clothing and furniture stores, Pharmacy, Newsagent, two banks (ANZ & Westpac), restaurants and coffee shops and four hotels/motels. It also has sporting facilities (e.g. swimming pool, basketball courts, tennis court, football ground, car racing track), and several tourists attractions within easy reach Like our Beautiful Lake Mary Ann!

 

About the Role

 

Anyinginyi Health maintains commercial and residential property assets in Tennant Creek and throughout the Barkly region of the Northern Territory. The Tradesperson is an important member of the Anyinginyi maintenance team with key responsibility for timely repair of property, plant and equipment. To do this, the role requires broad experience and a flexible skillset. The role would be required to perform plastering, carpentry and other handy work as required.

 

More specifically, some of your duties will include (but will not be limited to):

  •  Inspect all Anyinginyi spaces daily to identify problems with rubbish, mechanical
    faults or breakdowns
  • Respond to tenants’ requests for maintenance services, including replacing aircon
    filters, installing new locks and troubleshooting smoke detectors
  • Assist in the repair of plumbing, electrical and safety systems in tenants’ units as
    required
  • Ensure the parking spaces and walkways are free from rubbish and debris
  • Maintain sprinkler system and rubbish bins on all business premises
  • Assist with (test and tag) of in-unit appliances, such as refrigerators, microwaves,
    stoves, ovens, power boards and coffee makers etc.
  • Provide tenants with advice and guidance on maintaining their apartment homes
  • Respond to requests from managers/employees and maintenance services as
    required
  • Work collaboratively with the maintenance team members on repair and
    maintenance projects
  • Able to be on Call on a rotation basic eg: public holiday and after hours pick up
  • Assist the evaluation of maintenance requirements prior to engagement of Trade
    people and Contractors
  • Other duties as required.
  • Assist the Assets and Property Manager to maintain the workflow of the assets and maintenance team.
  • Understanding of Occupational Health and Safety in the workplace.
  • Current NT Driver’s License.
  • Be in possession of or have the ability to obtain an OCHRE Card.

Desirable

  • 4WD License.

 

About you

 

• Excellent time management and communication skills
• High level of attention to detail
• Ability to work autonomously and be proactive in meeting performance targets
• Knowledge of Work Health & Safety regulations
• Valid Driver’s Licence
• White Card
• Ochre Card (Working with Children) check or capacity to obtain one
• Some experience with plumbing and electrical systems
• Excellent skills with common hand and power tools
• Familiarity with apartment unit layouts and infrastructures
• Ability to communicate well with property management and maintenance staff
• Willingness to uphold company standards for safety, tenant service and efficiency

 

Please note: A National Police Clearance and Ochre Card (NT Working with Children’s) card obtainment is a requirement prior to commencement in this role. Please refer to NT Safe for further information.
